Five Oaks

Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre

The Five Oaks Education and Retreat Center provides programs for individuals of all ages, families, youth groups and congregations, to deepen their spirituality, broaden their knowledge of the Christian story in terms relevant to today's world and develop ways of living faithfully in God's world.

Here are some of the programs being offered:

The Greening of our Faith, May 9-11, Fri. 7pm - Sun. after lunch. Join keynote speaker Rosemary Radford Ruether & leaders Elizabeth May, Tony Maas, Stephen Dixon & First Nations elders for a discussion of the environmental issues affecting us locally and globally. Explore what faithful and practical responses we can embrace and implement in our lives & communities. Cost: $325 ($360 after Apr. 11). Adults who pay full price bring a youth/young adult under 30 for reduced rate of $200.

Delighting in God: Discerning what Matters Most in our Faith, June 13-15, Fri. 7pm - Sun. after lunch. A retreat with Nancy Cocks to reflect on God's invitation to take delight in times of rest and renewal. Cost: $275 ($305 after May 16)

Labyrinth Programs, June 20-24, various times. Choose from an overnight retreat, evening walk and facilitator's training with the Rev. Dr. Lauren Artress, Episcopal priest, spiritual director, therapist, and author. Family Camp, July 27-Aug. 1, Sun. 5:30 pm - Fri. after lunch. Join Day Camp staff for worship, swimming, canoe trip, hikes, games, crafts, singing, campfires, and more! Kristin Philipson will help families develop strategies for practicing faith at home.

Theatre Days: Mingled Yarn, Aug. 6-8, Wed. 9:30am - Fri. 3pm. Experience the enjoyment & insight of several plays with John Hartley. Includes ticket to see Hamlet in Stratford.

Woman's Wisdom: Sacred Treasure in Earthen Vessel, Aug. 10-12, Sun. 4pm - Tues. 12:30pm with lunch. A retreat led by Anne Simmonds for women to share stories, embodied prayer & healing ritual.

Writers in Residence, Aug. 11-15, Mon. 9:30am - Fri. after lunch. Andy & Donna Sinclair will nurture creativity as you seek to make your writing better.
